CampoAventuras Digital Mission: Ethical AI
Our Digital Mission includes something few camps offer: artificial intelligence ethics workshops. It's not enough to teach AI programming. It must be taught responsibly.
🧩 Workshop 1: Algorithmic Bias
What do they learn?
- That AI has racial, gender and socioeconomic biases
- That algorithms replicate the prejudices of whoever programmes them
- That they can create fairer solutions by being aware
Real Workshop Example:
We show how a facial recognition algorithm:
- Fails more with dark-skinned people (40% more error)
- Why? It was trained mainly with faces of white people
- Consequence? Black people wrongly arrested due to false positives
Question we ask them: If you were the programmer, how would you avoid this? We make them think of concrete ethical solutions.
🔒 Workshop 2: Privacy and Surveillance
What do they learn?
- How recommendation algorithms work (TikTok, Instagram)
- Why "free" means "your data is the product"
- How to protect their digital privacy without paranoia
Practical activity: They programme a simple recommendation algorithm and discover how it manipulates behaviour.

What do they learn?
- Which jobs will disappear due to automation
- Which human skills are irreplaceable
- How to prepare for jobs that don't yet exist
Guided debate: "If a robot can do your job better and cheaper, should you feel threatened or motivated to specialise?"
